Problems with the product:

- The gold hardware arrived broken
- One of the screws supplied to adhere the hinge connecting the lid with the chest broke - the screw head came detached upon screwing it in place. Couldn't remove the screw and therefore couldn't assemble the product.
- SAFETY ISSUE: The hinge that comes with this product has two very sharp points on which a child could easily be injured. They are sharp enough to scratch a child's skin, probably not puncture it but it's hard to tell since my rough adult skin would obviously not be an accurate gauge. The manufacturer provides a felt sticker with adhesive on it that the instructions show one should use (they call it a cotton cushion,) I am assuming, to cover these points - which would obviously not prevent injury since all a child would have to do would be to remove the sticker.
